Run4Troops was created to support those who serve.

As patriots of America, we are proud to honor our men and women in uniform by donating all proceeds to support Tri-State Military – past, present and future. Hoorah! Whether you’re an elite runner looking to qualify for Boston, a weekend Marathon Maniac, or just getting off the couch to do your first 5k as a part of a relay team, there’s something for everyone.

Relay Wave Assignments

Due to the high amount of Relay Teams registered this year, and to avoid massive congestion at Transition Areas where parking is limited, we will be running the race in waves. Locate your team's wave assignment at the link below:

WAVE 1: Relay Start - 7:00 AM

WAVE 2: INDIVIDUAL MARATHONERS ONLY - 7:15 AM

WAVE 3: Relay Start - 7:30 AM

Relay Details

HOW IT WORKS

Relay Teams can consist of 2 – 12 members in male, female, and co-ed categories. Relay teams can split up the amount of legs each person runs depending on the number of racers on their team. Relay teams can also have multiple runners run the same leg. 

 

At each transition, runners are to pass their racebelt to their teammates at the exchange point. Transitions can only take place at these designated areas.

 

Upon entering the exchange area, incoming runners should make sure their bib number is visible. A volunteer will announce the incoming runner’s bib number to the waiting runners.

EXCHANGE TIPS:

1.) PLAN AHEAD. Know your teammate’s pace, keep track of the race time, and know when to expect them to arrive.

2.) Communicate your team's bib number to all teammates.

2.) Wear or carry something easily identifiable by the incoming runner at the exchange.

3.) Assist your fellow runners by shouting all incoming bib numbers.

If possible, we ask that all participants try to pick up their packets on Friday before the race. If not, packets can be picked up Saturday between 6 - 6:30AM at the Race Start in Dyersville, IA.

 

RELAY TEAMS - Only one member of the team needs to be present to pick up the packet for the entire team.

Pre-Race Meal

A pre-race meal is set to be held on Friday before the race from 5PM - 7PM. The meal is complimentary to all individual marathon participants.

Transportation

Shuttle Service

Shuttle Bus to the race start for individual marathoners departs at 5:30 AM sharp from The Hilton Garden Inn. Marathoners can leave a bag at the start to be taken to the finish area. There will be shuttle vans for marathoners at the finish after the race to transport back to The Hilton Garden Inn.

 

There will be no transportation back to the race start in Dyersville.

 

IMPORTANT DETOUR NOTICE: The Kerper Blvd. Exit off Highway 61/151 if coming northbound is temporarily closed. Participants looking to take the shuttle to the start will need to take the 9th St. Exit toward 11th St. instead (one exit before Kerper Blvd. exit). The detour is minor; however, please plan accordingly to avoid missing the shuttle.

Race Start Parking will be available at the corner of 11th ST NE and 12th ST NE in Dyserville, IA. Parking Generals will be directing traffic and routing participants on where to park upon arrival.

Transition Area

Parking at all Transition Areas is EXTREMELY LIMITED due to the remote accessibility of the trail. Please do your best to car pool with teammates to limit the number of vehicles on the trail. This will help traffic flow and allow racers to arrive in enough time to transition between legs.

Race Finish

The Race finishes at Heritage Pond off of Highway 52 in Dubuque. Parking is only accessible via the entrance on Sageville Rd. Directional signage and Parking Generals will direct traffic and parking at the finish line area.

Finish Area Festivities

Make plans to bring your family and friends to the Finish Area to cheer on racers as they cross the finish line. Food, beverage, music, and fun will be provided at the Heritage Pond Finish Area. 

 

We will have a Beer Tent at the finish line and all participants (21+ years of age) will receive a complimentary beverage. Food and beverage is also available for purchase.

 

IMPORTANT ID NOTICE: All participants looking to endulge in the consumption of adult beverages must present their ID.

TOP OVERALL WINNERS

Awards will be given to the top winners in each category:

  • Top Individual Male Marathoner
  • Top Individual Female Marathoner 
  • Top Relay Team

PRIZE: Each winner will receive voucher for a new pair of running shoes (Up to $150 in value), courtesy of Brown’s Shoe Company, National Guard Backpack, and Run4Troops Beach Towel.

In addition to acknowledging the Top Relay Team, we will also be awarding the top 3 Relay Teams in each of the following categories:

AGE GROUP AWARDS 

The top male and female individual marathoners will be also be recognized in each of the following age groups:

  • 20-29

  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70 & over

AWARD: All age group winners will receive a pair of running socks.

 

There is no age group award presentation. Please check the results booth post-race to receive your award.

Post-Race Party

Join Run4Troops as we celebrate our 10-Year Anniversary and another successful Run4Troops Marathon for a Post Race Party with LIVE music from Zac Matthews Band.

WHEN: June 23rd, 7-10PM, doors open at 6PM

ADMISSION: FREE for all 2018 Run4Troops Participants, $10 donation for all others.
*You must wear your R4T wristband (Trail Pass) for free admission.

Event is open to all participants and the general public. All proceeds from the event go to support local military. HOORAH!

Inclement Weather

The race will be held rain or shine. If there is lightning in the area, the race will either have a delayed start or, depending on the intensity of the weather, be cancelled. The determination will be made by the Run4Troops Management Staff.

 

As a reminder, registration fees are non-refundable.
